The Burj Khalifa stands at 828 metres above the ground and has welcomed millions of visitors to its observation decks since it opened. But standing on the very top of the spire, exposed to open sky with nothing but the entirety of Dubai spread out thousands of feet below, is something only eight human beings have ever done. Eight. In the entire history of the tallest building on earth. In 2010, Tom Cruise became the first person to do it, scaling the exterior of the Burj Khalifa for the filming of Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol in a moment that made the whole world stop and stare. In 2018, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai himself, made the ascent and stood at the very pinnacle of his city with the kind of quiet confidence that only a man deeply connected to his home could carry at that height. In 2021, Emirates flight attendant Nicole Smith Ludvik stood at the top holding a simple sign that stopped the internet, and Will Smith joined that same exclusive group in the same year. Red Bull athlete Sam Sunderland claimed his spot in 2022, followed by Alain Robert and Alexis Landot in 2023 as part of the Mashreq Climb2Change campaign. And in 2024, MrBeast, the most watched creator on the internet, became the eighth person to ever stand at the absolute summit of the world’s tallest tower. Eight people. One extraordinary building. And a city called Dubai that keeps giving the world moments it cannot stop talking about. #burjkhalifadubai #burjkhalifaview #burjkhalifa #burjkhalifa❤️ #dubai🇦🇪
