“Skin as Mouth; Draperies as Skin” Year 04 Term 1 work in RCA @rca.architecture ADS12 @rca.ads12 A device inspired by the distillation process and steam treatment, examining the boundaries between skin, endocrine, treatment and smell. Distillation is aimed at extracting and separating the unseen particles, smell for instance. While steam on skin, the largest organ on our body, affects our hormones and endocrine system. The device was designed based on the steam temperature in distillation, from 60-100C will be capturing a non-living item‘s smell. When the steam cools down to 40-50C, an ideal steam room temperature, it will capture a living object’s smell and also act as a steam treatment on human skin. The device may be seen as a camera, a dining experience, a treatment, or a new way of living.
