As we’ve pointed out before, #LadyGaga, the City of Rio, and Mayor #EduardoPaes have been stretching the truth (to put it kindly) about the crowd size at her #CopacabanaBeach concert. Now, the #BBC — along with respected Brazilian outlets like #RevistaForum, #IstoE, and #Veja — is calling them out. According to the BBC, Gaga’s so-called 2.1 million crowd is pure fiction. Using the UK’s official Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds, which sets the maximum safe crowd density at 4.7 people per square meter, the BBC analyzed the actual space used for the event, including the beach and adjacent avenues. The result? 👉 Roughly 660,000 people, not 2.1 million. And get this — the BBC went out of their way to be generous. They doubled the density to a wildly unsafe 9 people per square meter (which would mean no one could move, dance, or even breathe), and they even factored in balconies and surrounding buildings. Even with all that, the maximum possible number came out to about 1.3 million. They also reached out to the City of Rio — the very people who hired Gaga and are now hyping the attendance. Unsurprisingly, officials stood by the 2.1 million figure but refused to explain how they calculated it. Convenient, right? Let’s not forget: Mayor Eduardo Paes, when questioned by the press, said he created his own formula to estimate the crowd size. Because nothing says “credibility” like just making it up as you go. This all matches what we’ve been saying from the start. As soon as Gaga and the city began pushing the “2.1 to 2.5 million” narrative, #DataFolha — Brazil’s most respected polling and crowd analysis institute — estimated the actual number to be between 600,000 and 1.2 million. But hey, Lady Gaga, the artist who once proudly said she “faked it ’til she made it,” seems committed to faking it 17 years later. #LadyGagaLies #CopacabanaBeach #BBCFactCheck #DataFolha #FakeCrowdNumbers #LiarLiar #MadonnaStillTheQueen #WorldRecordNotBroken #CrowdMathMatters #RioDeJaneiro #GagaDebunked #EduardoPaes #PopStarMarketing #MadonnaHistoryMaker #LadyGagaVsTheTruth #IndustryPlantEnergy
