However, contrary to popular belief these animals are not easy to care for, and often suffer poor welfare due to inadequate husbandry and care ☹! 💡 Exotic pets require specific, tailored care regarding diet, habitat (temperature, lighting, humidity), and environment. They are also very good at masking illness until it is too late, which is why professional veterinary health checks and advice are so important! 💡 The SPCA has a team of vets with a special interest in exotic animal medicine and surgery, including Dr. William Lewis, a highly experienced veterinary surgeon who has been treating exotics since the 1990s!
