Celebrating our 2026 Alumni Awards of Excellence recipients, and the wisdom they’ve carried with them since graduation ✨ This year, we were proud to honour: 🎓 Mandeep Bumbra (BScN ’12, MBA ’17) – Alumni Odyssey Award From delivering frontline care as an RN in medical-surgical and hemodialysis units to her current role with @healthontario , Mandeep has built a career grounded in improving healthcare systems and advancing health equity. Today, she collaborates with partners across the province to expand access to care, strengthen quality, and champion equitable health outcomes. 🎓 Kurt Michael Downes (BA ’03, BEd ’05) – Alumni Ambassador Award An award-winning educator with the @wecdsb , Kurt is also president and head coach of @bordercity_ac . He has contributed to 14 @teamcanada national coaching staffs—including the Tokyo Olympic Games—and remains deeply committed to youth development, connecting students with Olympians and elite athletes. 🎓 Dr. Bryan E. Walls (BSc ’69) – Alumni Award of Merit A renowned scholar, historian, author, humanitarian, and successful, now retired, dentist, Dr. Walls has dedicated his life to preserving the story of Black resilience and freedom in Canada. In 1989, he founded the John Freeman Walls Historic Site and Underground Railroad Museum, a nationally recognized landmark welcoming thousands of visitors each year. His extraordinary contributions have been widely recognized, including appointments to both the Order of Ontario and the Order of Canada. Join us in celebrating their incredible impact and legacy 👏
