How Instagram post dates are detected

Public Instagram posts and Reels include a taken_at timestamp in the public media response. The checker converts that value into your local time and an exact UTC timestamp.

Why dates can differ by timezone

The same post can appear as one calendar day in Europe and the previous day in North America. For audits, reports or creator timelines, use the UTC timestamp to avoid timezone confusion.
