Located in the heart of Chiyoda City, Kioi Seido is a five-story concrete-and-glass cube building crafted with no purpose. Designed by architect Hiroshi Naito for the RINRI Institute of Ethics, the project was completed in 2021. The result is a space that feels at once ancient and modern—raw concrete softened by wooden formwork, glass walls filtering in sky-lit calm, and textured materials that invite quiet contemplation. Typically closed to the public, the building opens now through September 30, 2025. It reveals not only its architectural form but also 40 years’ worth of Naito’s sketches and diaries. In a city where everything is designed to serve a function, this “building without a purpose” offers a simple invitation for people to slow down, stay a while, and just be. #kioiseido #tokyoarchitecture #tokyotravel #東京建築 #東京旅行
