I never get involved in political discourse on any of my public platforms. I do not intend to start to do so regularly but…this…I felt compelled…I felt driven to share. This was so powerfully moving and honest and real. So profoundly sound in thought, opinion and empathy. Jimmy spoke my heart. And the heart of millions of parents across our great nation who are becoming increasingly terrified to send our children to school. Who lie awake at night in sorrow for the lives of so many children lost. For so many parents and loved ones who now suffer the weight of grief. A grief they will be forced to carry with them the rest of their living days. As the child of parents who lost a child…I bore witness and continue to bear witness to that kind of grief and though my parents found a way to continue on, they are marked and changed and saddled with a quiet sorrow that will never go away. I know they both would wish to spare any and every parent of a child this kind of pain. I believe…and perhaps it is just a naive and idealistic belief…but I believe we are ALL in this together. Right and Left. Middle and off center. It does not matter. It should not matter. These are OUR children. We must do what we can to keep them safe. To keep each other safe. Reform is not a four letter word. It is not the end of a citizens right to bear arms. It is REFORM. It is COMPROMISE. It is GRACE. If we can not get on the same side just this once on behalf of the innocent and the voiceless we are not the great nation I believe us to be. We are a tragedy. Repost @jimmykimmellive via news.com.au
