I miss the fashion forums with scanned in editorials from every global magazine you can imagine, profile pages customised with coding skills learned on Neopets, flash websites with a 5 minute loading time and a soul. Friction made the internet magical. In our obsession with removing friction, the internet has become homogeneous, and online culture along with it. But pockets of that weird, messy, experimental world live on, some even managing to scale outside the group chat or the side room.
