🚨 Beware of Tax Scams! 🚨 Don't fall for fraudulent schemes this tax season. Stay vigilant, protect your personal info, and always verify sources before sharing any financial details. Your security matters!

With tax season in full swing, I'm here to help you stay one step ahead of potential scams. Here's a list of recent tax scams to be aware of.

You can avoid falling for a tax scam if you know how to spot these scammers and their tricks, which starts with knowing how the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) contacts taxpayers.

The IRS contacts taxpayers by mail first; it doesn’t initiate contact via a random phone call, text message or email to request personal or financial information.

The IRS also doesn't initiate contact with taxpayers on social media channels to request personal or financial information.

And note that the IRS’s website is IRS.gov — not IRS.com, IRS.net, IRS.org or some other bit after the period.

Lastly, report any tax scams you encountered to phishing@irs.gov and the Federal Trade Commission.

Have any of these happened to you?
