Located in the northern part of Kyoto, Myōken-ji Temple is a historic Nichiren Buddhist temple. Compared to Kyoto’s more famous temple sites, it remains relatively quiet, offering peaceful experience of the city’s cultural heritage. During cherry blossom season, Myōken-ji transform into a wonderland. Sakura trees bloom across the temple grounds, framing the traditional architecture with soft shades of pink. There was only a few local visitors when I visited, so I stood under the trees and watch the flower petals dance in the wind. I walked slowly beneath the blooming trees to take in the fleeting beauty of spring. Sitting for a while, I looked up at the sakura overhead. Sunlight filtered through the blossoms, casting a pale pink glow across the temple grounds. Kyoto in spring is known for its beauty, I felt deeply grateful for the view and the experience I had in Myōken-ji Temple.
