Some avatars tell the story of who you are and where you’ve come from. For ysko, a long-time dev and organizer who went on to become a Developer Community Manager at Roblox, summing up that story wasn't so simple. "I've always been a jack-of-all-trades: localization, scripting, mixed building, graphics. I wanted a look that said, 'what is a creator?' and put it all into one avatar." For ysko, that starts with an obvious choice of centerpiece: his Bloxy Award. "I got that for internationalization—translating experiences into Spanish. It was a great learning experience, getting feedback from both devs and users." Though he's dabbled with scripting and building, especially in his teen years, it's his Spanish localizations he's most known for. "I lived in Galicia for 17 years...one of the reasons I have a blue outfit is that their flag is white and blue. It also coincides with the Studio colors, which is nice." It also pairs nicely with the other centerpiece of his outfit: his rare, signature top hat. "The hat was given out to top creators at the time. One reason I chose to keep it is that, with the grid-style blueprints, it represents creation generally." Rounding things out is a souvenir of his earliest days on the platform: a limited-edition Sapphire Vision Visor. "That was part of my first avatar design, an alien with spiky blue hair. I wanted to hold on to that." Like his avatar, ysko's career is the sum of all he's been through. "Becoming a Roblox employee was such a full-circle moment. I've spent a good portion of my life becoming entwined with the community. I've learned soft skills like communication and time management, I've built relationships, I've seen these communities grow...It just made sense to come work here."
