Posted @withregram • @iamarwadamon “It’s like trying to fight a monster with multiple heads” Spoke on my former network @cnn with one of my fav people @holmescnn about my and my charity @inaraorg efforts to coordinate aid. The challenges are endless and overwhelming. From trying to get specific items to those who need things that aren’t a part of current distributions, specific medications, flashlights, power banks, non-electrical heaters … to trying to get families with disabled children out … and that’s not even addressing the overwhelming need inside Syria where only a handful of UN aid trucks have gone through. To give you an idea of just how hard it is to get things done in Syria – crossing the border with aid at this point is not really happening, transferring money to orgs inside so they can try to source locally – well the PTT system went down with the quake, its back up, but there’s an actual cash shortage. People are innovative, yes, and find solutions, but to have to do these sorts of logistical gymnastics at a time like this is absurd.
