Last week my company was featured (prominently!!) in the New York Times. It was an accomplishment of such magnitude that I have spent the last several days trying to figure out what I want to say about it. I’ve also experienced a little bit of a personal crisis— what on EARTH do I strive for now? Have I hit my peak? I’m only 32!! What I keep coming back to is how proud I am of myself for doing this while also being a mom. So many women are encouraged to give up their careers in order to pursue motherhood and I have fiercely rejected that for myself. Many of my proudest accomplishments have occurred in the last 3 years— when I was pregnant, in the depths of postpartum and now chasing around a toddler. I spent the first 1.5 years of Sebastian’s life being a SAHM that also ran her own company. Most of this year’s summer camp (and all of last year’s) was planned during naps and after his bed time. I gave up so much sleep (and all tv) so I wouldn’t have to choose between being an active parent and pushing myself forward as a business woman. Though, I’ll admit, I do feel pretty close to a physical breakdown (luckily we have childcare now.) I am so grateful to the @badbitchbookclub team and community— especially Kaylynn, Annays, Paige, Mel, EC & Jackie. This doesn’t feel like a personal accomplishment as much as a collective one. This book club is as amazing as it is because you have put so much of yourselves into it. @jackiemolloyphoto thank you so much for vouching for us and getting us this feature! You are amazing. & if you are reading this, you CAN read with us.
